About Sarah

I have always had a vivid imagination. I remember playing on my own in the school playground and making up stories in my head. Some of those stories made it onto the page in English lessons, although Maths was probably my favourite subject which explains why I like the challenge of writing Flash Fiction stories with exact word counts.

Flash Fiction was something I discovered after Andrew died. When I was trying to turn my blog into a book about grief. I needed a writing distraction and very short stories seemed to be the answer. I’m so glad I finally managed to merge the two, by writing a memoir in flash.

When someone is bereaved, they can’t always cope with reading a longer narrative. I hope my words can bring some comfort without being too heavy. I want people to know they are not alone in their mixed-up feelings. I believe we need to talk more about death.

2024 has been such a whirlwind – Glitter was published in January with a lavish launch, I’ve had a few speaking engagements throughout the year, and in August I recorded the audiobook. I had an amazing day at Monkeynut Studios and it’s great to know my words can now be heard as well as read. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any better, I won the Ink Book Prize for best non-fiction book of the year!

I’m hoping to publish book two in 2025 – as my brother said, “you can’t just be a one hit wonder!”

Staying with flash fiction I’m compiling a book of stories about love – watch this space…
